Why will this species successfully replace the lost species?
- it’s related, in the same family.
- it has a lot in common (see details under each species)
- It’s used in aquaculture in other areas on the north pacific coast and although it would be considered an invasive (foreign) species it hasn’t shown itself to aggressively replace other species, but seems to co-exist with no serious consequences.
- In some areas they have been known to hybridize (this means they can breed and create a mixed species)
