About The inter-tidal zone
The Inter-tidal zone is the area between the land and ocean. The inertidal zone is covered up during high tide so it can only be seen close up during low tide. The inter-tidal zone isn't easy to live in. During low tide the species can't get enough oxygen, shelter and food found in water. Also, the species that live in the inter-tidal are exposed to sunlight and cold, dry up and freeze. There are also land predators that come along and eat them while they can't get away.
Inter-tidal zones are made up of all kinds of things, like rocks, sand and mud. The species that live in the inter-tidal zone must compete for certain areas to get enough space to live and avoid being swept away by the tide.
The Port Moody arm of the Burrard Inlet has an inter-tidal zone. This is the area I have chosen for my project.
